I know some of you have expressed an interest in altering the Rocket Arena Servers map cycle. So here is your chance
This is the current cycle that is in use now

Yea no point in the Dm2 one cuz isn't there an arena version of DM2?
Oh and its quite hard to say which maps to remove cuz some people like some, some people dont.
I don't like rwild very much but this is just me =] |

Not really a suggestion but a question?
Why do players use such HUGE maps in DMC with arena ? The maps in Rocket arena should be about the size of povdmm4 or arenarg2 or egyptra - those are classic rocket arena maps - dmc_187 is a great map (thanks Paul) but it's WAY to big for an arena game. DMZ maps are very popular in arena games but it's just a huge rocket jump spamathon - If you play rocket arena with maps that big then self damage should set to 1.
Arena style gameplay is exactly what the name implies - ARENA - you know like a collesium, 1on1 fight to the death in close quarters. Thats what made it so popular - thats why I made it, to be true to the classic Quake rocket arena - It started out the right way, with small maps and good fights, I had some good times, re-Verse made a few maps and they were great, very small 2 or 3 teir. Now everyone likes to chase each other around the map in a big rocket jumping orgy - i've seen matches take up to 5 mins to finish, LOL - when I used to play RA in Quake if a match lasted over 30 secs then the server was froze up or crashed
hmm - my question turned into a rant - oh well  |

hmm well yes big maps are played a lot. I like small maps too tho. Small maps sometimes are just close fights , big maps increase ur long shot and other shit.
yes dmz is a lot of rocket jumping, but I personally do it a lot to fool around and have fun. Then soemtiems i get called a panzy and have to beat people without jumping once.
lately i been changing the map on mtndew arena from instead of the usual dmz, to ztndm3. It is fun for a change and I enjoy it a lot in a arena.
Some dont like dmz1 for arena, some might not like ztn or a smaller map but everyone has preferences. Perhaps you intended it to be for small maps but it evolved. Im pretty sure dmz1 wasnt made for RA. It was made for FFA. What is so good about dmz1 tho is that it works in a lot of different game types. Dmz3 wasnt made for RA but it works out nicely. Sometiems big maps are funner. Lackatee has also made a few maps for rocket arena ( dmc_ra_arena1 - dmc_ra_arena_3) to name a couple. These are fun maps and small. I think u would enjoy them, check them out sometime

We do have arenarg2, arenrg3, marena4 from the first version of rocket arena, the one that paul.mu made. It was a cross between a hacked server dll and stripper configs that Dive made.
I would like to try the maps out but I think they only have one spawn point (need to check with Dive) which would cause problems in DMC Pro RA. As I remember Dive altered egyptra because of that reason.
I saw dmc_ra_arena_3 earlier of the buzz server but someone changed the map before it was my turn to play , so have no idea if it any good.
dmc_ra_arena1 seem quite simular to dmc_morbias except its a bit higher and has the damm squashey thing.
Will add to them both to the map cycle to test.
DMZ3 was put in the list because it seemed very popular on the buzz server although I do agree with Trend in that its seems to way to big for RA.

You know RA is still my fav gamemode next to CTF and FFA.... maybe thats why I stink at duels

| dmc_ra_arena1 and dmz1 are the only RA maps you need. =) |

.... with respect to the mappers, i just don't see why RA has become so 'big map crazy' in DMC. the idea of a huge ass map in QW RA is simply rediculous. multitier small arenas for rj and one or 2 open areas to duel in is what makes up an ra map.... it doesn't sound as intriguing without at least a few classic maps fit for ra (besides zed and aero), so i doubt i'd play it. |

my favourite map for ra is dm2,big as it is.
i like playing high speed cat and mouse with the opponent,using sound to track and the forward rj speed to hunt and cut him off.
not what u would usually call old style ra ,but big maps didnt become popular for no reason.
