if this is real, how does he transfer the prop. direction so fast? i assume that 1 or 2cy enging on it does at most 5k rpm? minumum maybe like 500rpm? How can you that quickly with such a weak engine (nitro) reverse the prop that quickly? also you never ever see the actualy props reverse; you just see the blur of the pros "spinning."also the camera movements are a bit shady imo, sometimes he moves the camera exactly when the hellicopter moves, others ms after it, and rarely (once or twice) BEFORE the helicopter moves in the direction the camera moves.
fake or real?

Lol, pretty impressive, huh Mulder?
I'm not big into the RC scene but I have really fond memories of my dad flying our little rc model airplane when I was a kid, these rc helicopters look like a blast and great father-son type stuff so I've been thinking of buying one, maybe next summer. =)
Although I can't personally vouch for the authenticity of the vid, I have no reason to think that it's a fake. Aside from the cost & effort to make such an obscure fake vide appear so authentic (remember it's obviously compressed for the web so some visual blurring is bound to occur), a quick Google of the kids name and the event would have shown you hundreds of links to both. It appears the kid is pretty famous within the rc heli world and a lot of the msg boards have posts like this one:

| Really great i think, i showed some mates out of amazement and they were just like "oh.. how sad, what geeks" but oh well, won't please everyone, but i think its a really good thing to take up, my dad loved+ was overwhelmed by it, (he loves flying model planes and making them) and quickly sent the vid to his mate who is into the helicopter side of model flying. |

LOL Wang,
The rotors don't reverse they feather, in other words they not only rotate around the hubs center they rotate around their own center along the length of the blade 30 degrees or so each way, so the thrust is reversed by rotating the blades not by reversing them.
The whole assembly also tilts forward and back along the "Z" axis
As far as how fast this can be done, how fast can you flip a light switch?
Quite inpressive, I have seen this guy fly before. Amazing.

Be aware that these are VERY difficult to fly, maybe start with something a little less ambicious [/img] |

LOL =) "getting one" = entry level $200 one, not $2,000 pro model =)
I wonder how many heli's that guy trashed in his career to get that good. Hmm, do they make a realistic RC flight sim/game? |
