Some of us are trying to get a DMC Tournament Started (Zapper, Shoot, Chiz, Penetrater to name a few) and we need a name for it. Any ideas/ suggestions would be gladly appreciated.
Only current name so far- King of DMC.
Please post any ideas you have.
Thanks

If you wanted a slightly unoriginal Quakeworld style thang, uhm... DMC Smackdown 2004 ?

Simon LeBon on the DMC forums... wow That's two famous Simons now
Only being a casual DMC player, you can make what you like of this... but If your looking to just make this a friendly small tournament, with a notion of gathering momentum for a bigger event maybe, then I would pick a rather plain friendly 'smaller' sounding name
If you start pimping around the
DMC CENTRAL MEGA SUPER - ULTRA WICKED - DEATH MURDER KILL EXTRAVAGANZA WITH ICING ON TOP AND NUDE BABES (inc free beer)
Then people tend to want and expect big things and a lot of action, .. a slight exaggeration but you get my point no? When in reality we know it isn't going be like that, its just going to be a few of us having a laugh and finding out who is top dog..
Make these small tourney gatherings a regular thing and then you can start thinking bigger and meaner.. Take it or leave it but think smaller and think friendly, because we want new people to have a stab no?
..and before anyone takes the piss... The Care Bear DMC League is a no no!...
Think 'Lads together having a laugh'... (no ghey jokes ) The crunch is the title should reflect what the tourney comp is all about, frags, doing your best and friendly players....
Cos we sooooo bad want new people.... (main point)
Maybe after a couple of weeks the mods could choose a selection then have a poll? |

keep the ideas coming
How small do you think it should be? Because I know most I have mentioned it to are interested. I think we could get 20 players easily.
Ill do some asking around and see if I can get an estimate of who is actually interested in participating. |

hi guys
i've been without connection since past sunday 3 days without dmc

How about making it into leagues to make it last for a while?
say we get 24 players, we could split this into 12/12 - division a/b.
We could have a panel of judges to decide who initially goes in what league (a or b).
Then we could go the football fixtures way and have home and away games. The home games, being the person gets to pick his favorite 2 maps (opponent 1)? Promotion and relegation would then be in place.
I think the problem is always going to be getting people to play their fixtures. Maybe a 3 strikes and your out rule should be put in place? Then, if someone does get kicked out, we stick a reserve player in their place.
A good requirement is that if the person is in the league, they have to join an IRC channel on a set day (Saturday?) to play their game.
Just a thought guys. Would be superb to get something on the go.
Maybe have a looksy at how CPL works Pun? |

you hit the nail on the head for me there... I can't guarantee any times and can't even promise that once i've connected I wont drop again after 5 minutes.
when I do play, I usually have the baby monitor right there beside me... all it takes is 3 telefrags in a row, I swear real loud, baby wakes up and I have to disconnect
I'd prefer the league becuase at leat I wouldn't get knowcked out in my first match but still doubt I could seriously commit without it seeming like i was taking the p*ss! |

| Another idea is to half weekly fixtures, but you play the game agaist your opponent during the week? THis would allow a bit of time for people who couldn't play on a set day I recon. |

Are you talking a 1v1 league?
Has anyone considered a ffa league, perhaps along the lines of the old Wireplay QW leagues. There were 10 (I think) in each league and we played 2 maps for 15 minutes each Sunday for 6 weeks with your best 5 weeks frags counting to your score, so you could still afford to miss a week. The 12 maps were agreed before the league started. Excellent fun. |
