I didn't know where to write this.. but, I just can't take it anymore, the problems im having with DMC.
It started on dmz1, on this map I lose all fluidity and smoothness, the mouse jolts and jerks around inconsistently and often feels like it skips frames. It feels like it is getting worse every time I play.
At first only dmz1, now every map I have this problem, some worse than others. The worst is dmz1, aero and dm4. Dm2 and skull are very bad but not as bad, and ztndm3 is playable but uncomfortably playable. The only map I have found not to get this problem is e1m2!
I find it hard to pin point where this problem came from, and like I said, feels like my game is decaying because it is worse now than it was a week ago.
OOHHH! =(
What have I tried? replacing my video card drivers and mouse drivers. My mouse is Logitech mx510.. any help really appreciate =( |

Hmm, very mysterious. Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game cache? You could maybe also try deleting the map files for dmz1, aero and skull and letting them re-download, although if dm2 and dm4 are affected, that might not be the issue.
Are you sure the problem doesn't happen on e1m2? I would have suspected the mouse at first but that wouldn't explain why some maps work better than others. In any case, have you got a spare mouse you could try? |

I deleted all of DMC (backed it up of course) and tried playing...
I just at my wits end man.. it was still all messed up and it was horrible playing with all my maps looking different textures, the sound being different, my cfg gone.. it was hell.
Its definately worse on some maps than others. |

Tayste, if it makes you feel any better, both MOON and I have been experiencing the same things since that Steam Community **** was released. Everything seems quirky and really jumpy. I've been making mouse changes constantly and nothing really seems to help.
Also, since the last update, It automatically filters back to <All Games> every time I leave a game or start up, or open the Servers window.... it keep reverting back to All games constantly. Anyone know a fix to keep this on one game without reverting?
Steam F'd us in the A once again. |

I have noticed this for sometime now and it seems to get worse with every Steam update. I think it is the steam engine. It started for me after a steam update sometime back and seems to keep getting worse.

I am not having too much luck... since I effectively deleted my entire dmc folder and replaced it with a fresh one, when I try to play on DMQ haxor server, my bunnyhops are different.
What happens is, when I hold jump to jump when I land, there is no jump sound when I jump, its all silent. And it isn't very smooth, glitchy and silent bunnyhopping.
I tried downloading the required files from mfrx kick ass . net but alas, hasn't worked. Anyone..? Sorry to be such a clueless |

Tayste - You definitely haven't got the dmq client dll which is why the jumps are lagging. You need to make the dll read only when you copy it over the old one or it gets replaced as soon as you start DMC.
I had a few games last weekend after not playing for a while and I've been getting the same thing. Some servers are worse than others - had serious problems trying to play on uk master - seemed like I was blowing up before the rocket that hit me had been fired half the time.
It wasn't like this 2 months back so I'll agree with Carbon and blame it on the steam community update. There is an option to turn it off in steam settings so that might be worth a go. |

I have same problem, whenever I click 'find server' it defaults to 'friends' instead of 'internet'... surely it would remember that every single time I do this, I alays click 'internet'.. lol. |

I just played around an hour and a half on the baf dmq2 server (FFA) it was wicked especialy cos the map cycle included ultrav!
I had no problems at all.. but the server eventually cleared. So I then went to master server and its dcdm5... then I get the jerky mouse problem again.. so maybe its just a master server problem?
edit: nope, I went back to the 'smooth' (dmq2) server, and tried out dmz1. It was jerky mouse, and I didn't try dcdm5 but probably would have been too. So deleting and reinstall fresh DMC helped for most maps, but dmz1 is still acting up.
The only map I used default textures was ztndm3, aero and e1m2, so maybe it was my custom textures for dm2, dm6, dmz1, dm4 that was causing the problems, altho dm3 was fine, and I had custom textures for that.. AHH its just so bizarre! I have a new problem now, since the reinstall fixed dm4 (yay) I have been playing it (weird playing with original non detail textures), but more on that in a new thread.
Thanks Pix, that client.dll thing worked. |

I had a lot of problems with the custom textured maps, especially dmz1, so try to use the original. My fps is instabil on them, between 20 and 90. I think it is some kind of video card problem, cos i have the same prob in qw( just only 1 map, q3dm17, wich is very big and bright |

Yeah I decided its definately map specific, and most likely this steam community update people have mentioned (but I didnt notice it)..
Can't be my mouse, because my mouse is fine in all other applications.. and why would it be my video card, when my video card is good enough to play Prey, f.e.a.r., hl2, doom3, with high settings.. yet DMC? oh sorry, i forgot DMC is uberly next-gen.. forget gears of war!!

the problem absolutely is not your video card.
the problem is steam related.... and from what i gather from about 15 minutes of reading steampowered forums, it's pretty common and the fix / suggestions are weak.., change firewall settings, get rid of p2p running in background, uninstall windowblinds, whatever... same crap they've been spewing for years about fixes and none of them work. you pretty much have to survive til next patch is released and it might go away. i know that's kind of a sad answer, but that seems to be the only solution i can think of. i tried a fresh dmq .dll installation and that didn't help, and my mouse and connection problems are definitely not dmq related. i'm not gonna mess w/ my mouse settings or drivers any more, there's no reason to... all that would do imo is make the situation worse and accomplish nothing. |
