Been playing WoW alot and also HL2:DM, however I have stopped playing HL2:DM now. My 2nd account that had HL2:DM (not the one with DMC) on it was VAC banned, I have never download a hack in my life. Nobody uses this account besides me, nobody uses my computer besides me.. yet I was banned.. I have no idea how or why. Steam support will not disclose that information to me so I am basically screwed.
I have reluctant to use my DMC account since I didn't want it to get banned also. I have wiped my steam folder however and am installing DMC again. Might see me on more often now.. that is unless this account gets banned to.
Steam/Valve VAC system is the biggest bullshit I ever seen, and the way they deal with legitament customers. |

Yeap... This has happened to a friend of mine. There's also hundreds of topics about this phenomena in a swedish CS/HL-community/forum.
VAC ban some ppl even if they don't cheat. Why? Who the fuck knows...
One conclusion is that Valve does this to earn more money. They ban ppl who play alot bacause they know that the players most likely goes to the closest store and buy a new copy of the game so they can create a new account and keep on gaming.
This sounds a bit stupid and it also sounds like it's written by a "i-hate-valve-and-steam"-person. But still, it's even more stupid that accounts gets banned by the VAC-system, which is written by Valve, for no reason... |

Wow, you actually deleted our posts?... The first line of my post was directed at carbon the rest could of stayed just fine. I know carbon is an absolute loser but don't delete our posts, you are depriving much entertainment from others. Maybe you weren't feeling manly enough today and this is your power trip!? Cut it out in the future....
Rather than saying this to defend my dignity or anything of the sorts, I am telling this to you as one steam user to another.. Yes they banned my steam account for no reason. Yes I am completely baffled by what happened. I know whats on my computer 98% of the time and I installed nothing of the sorts, ever. I would usually support valve because of so much work they put into their games, I have been a fan ever since Half-Life 1. I have bought hl1, hl1:bs, hl2, hl2:e1 and usually I pirate game that I am only going to play once. Only other games that I have actually bought were Blizzard games. But I guess now, only Blizzard is good enough to have me as a customer and thats the truth. |

Incidentally, meg asked me what I thought, and the answer was that when Simon and dirk were around here they would just have locked or deleted the thread and had done with it. But discussing VAC banning is absolutely fine therefore the thread stays. You and carbs constantly trading barbs isn't. The end.

| My only problem was the first line of my post actually acknowledged that carbon actually exists and that he was annoying, the rest of my post wasn't even directed at him. I don't like typing out shit just for it to be deleted when isn't even attacking him. Delete my normal discussion again and I'll stop posting here..... |

Blizzard are a bunch of wankers when it comes to support. I love their games, been playing starcraft since release, and still im active with it. Devoted 13 months to World of Warcraft (5 months to reach level 60, 8 months at level 60, april 2005 to may 2006) and it was mostly enjoyable.. January 2006 I decided to try for pvp rank 14 Grand Marshal (the highest rank) and I got that rank 3 months later (rank 14 means #1 pvp player on the entire realm server for your faction). News got out about new weapons for rank 14 which came into place a week after I was rank 14, because (similar to dmc stats, altho FAR more punishing) your rank decay over time so I was rank 13 day of the patch, I had blizzard employee, game master, lie to me in game (he suggested I keep pvping for another week because patch would definately be out, but it was put back, so I wasted the time), and blizzard made the weapons so that only CURRENT rank 14 could get it, not HIGHEST PREVIOUS RANK 14... why? No idea, the vast, vast majority of players complain and complain, but Blizzard ignored. They lost me permanently and I never played WoW again... no way would I try for that #1 spot ever again.. the competiton was ridiculously high. So I think their player support sucks ass and many times while I was playing WoW they made changes to the game with no regards to the players at all, crappy decisions which in many cases took nothing into account of players opinions on the game. |

They changed the honor system, you gain honor points now and they don't disappear. You buy items with those points when you have enough.

Blizzard has made x number of highly successful games. Usually they know what they're doing without asking players about what they think. Not saying your points aren't valid but sometimes just doing what players ask affect many other things that need to be taken into consideration. Balance is not an easy task. |

Still... WoW have become a shite-game to me that takes too much important time and I'm tired of it now so fuck WoW that's all I'm gonna say about it atm...

I quit the game well before that came along. I just feel sorry for any rank 13 that got fucked over when they changed the system.
An example of a simple decision which Blizzard decided to go with, when 95% of the players community disagreed, was when they brought out the patch with the new tier 2 armors from the brand new raid dungeon, Blackwing Lair. They were the best armor at this time. Blizzard wanted to make the hunters armor bright pink/yellow/purple and the players wanted black or something that didn't look flurecent. I got no idea why blizzard said no to 95%+ of the community, but it annoyed me because I was a hunter and I dont want to wear bright pink.
I worked it out after I reach rank 14, and between rank 10 and 14 I was playing on average 9 hours of pvp a day for 13-14 weeks to reach rank 14. It made me hate the game. 9 hours, 7 days a week, far more than a full time job. Unhealthy, leaves me much satisfaction to say 'fuck blizzard, fuck wow'. If you were there at the time... in the game... it was all Blizzards fault. We wanted to get rank 14 because we loved the game, the system made us hate the game. Blizzard rewarded zombies and the competition was between who could play more.
13 weeks of 9 hours a day, reach rank 14, YAY! But I missed the patch by a week. I was told by a blizzard game master that the new weapons would be released next week and he adviced me to keep pvping 9 hours a day for yet another week, which I did and was just hell, especially when the patch DID NOT come, and I gave up. 882 hours of gameplay in 3 months and I was not eligible for the upgraded weapons. I left for good. You can see my hatred for WoW now.....
