it never finished, people kept dropping out and the brackets kept getting extremely screwed up. I fixed them several times so people had an opponent, but after several tries to get people to finish i gave up
i dont blame them though, it happens, its happening with the RA tourney right now. seems like everyone forgot about that!?
hard to get some good competitions goin
Rages FFA league went great, we need another one
Bodycount gauntlet also went great because it was a one day deal
I think we need some sort of competition over the summer when we have more players. The ffa works better though because it is scheduled, and people either show up or they dont and usually the majority of everyone shows up |

i'm just throwing this cheese into the wind here....
1. for a fragfest 2005, or for a similar event.... set the dates and the matches really far in advance to allow for people to make adjustments in their schedule for it. you're always going to have last minute crisis or illness or somesuch... that's unavoidable. if people are serious about it, they will be able to make the matches or games unless there's an emergency if they have enough advance.
2. compromise. if someone can't make a match.... last minute, he/she should contact the opponnent and try to reschedule when it's convienient. this is essential. at one point i thought forfieture was really the only option because it led to an easy out if otherwise, but hey... sometimes you just can't make it happen. allow buffer times for matches and the key here is 'communnicate'. which leads me to this:
3. PlanetDMC was designed specifically for this purpose.... for those that don't have instant messaging similarities or time schedules, they can post there, send pms there, whatever. Duel / Match / Tourney information and
challenges, etc... are what that site was designed for. a lot of people put a LOT of time into getting that site together and hosting it. Lets not waste a great opportunnity to use this site to get a good flow of matches organized.
4. there is no number 4.
5. i'm excited (check my pants!) about what 2005 has to offer in DMC. DMQ is still being developed ( thanks Pix ), and there's a lot on the table right now as far as new QW players migrating here lately. it should make for some interesting matches, really.... and i've adjusted my mapping schedule accordingly. if anyone wants a qw / ra / duel map (i've said this before) converted..... by all means SAY SOMETHING. when i spectate or play in RA people bitch 'why is this map not in dmc' etc.... the reason is, if you don't communicate with the mappers / developers in forums or make it yourself it isn't going to happen.
6. stay competitive. you guys are what keeps this game sooooo good.
7. this is only adressed to a few people:
DON'T go into a FFA server and sit idle, challenging people to 1v1 you. if you do, just ask once, politely, give pertinent information (where when etc) and then go away.
DO NOT sit and flame people on FFA servers while they're trying to play. this is wrong, especially when they're on an FFA stats server. If i have to stop long enough to type in :
"no thanks maybe some other time"
"not right now"
"NO FU"
this just cost me 3 deaths which reflect in my stats because you are spamming the console and calling me a pussy. relax. join a RA server and wait a few minutes..... someone will be there to kick your ass shortly... while i just lost 30 - 90 spots in my hlstats because i had to respond to you. if it's only once, fine... but to sit in the server and flame people is unruly and unsportsmanlike. people need to realize this. yes it's 'just a game' but,.... that's not acceptable.
8. hey isn't 8 a cool number? it's all infinite and stuff.
*CaRboN*
sorry.... needed ventilation. |

Are there any 1 Vs 1 maps or servers up for DMC/DMQ (I don't know the difference, maybe someone can let me know?). I'm a former Painkiller player, before it died, and I used to play in 1 vs 1 tourneys all the time (mostly against European players. CSS is the only really big game here in the US. Even Quake 3 and 4 are lackluster).
Is there a possibility of this happening? Also, can someone give me information on how to make a personal server for you guys to play on? I have the parts, but I want to make it public. |

"H4xX0rs 0n|y", "The House No-LiMiT Built" and "ShiT_HaPPeNS's DmQ Plaza" are all DMQ2 servers setup for any mode. Just join one and say "votemode 1on1"

are there any 1 vs 1 specific maps? Like, smaller maps? some of the maps are a little too large for 1vs1 play. |

dm2
dm4
dm6
e1m2
ztndm3
aerowalk
pkeg1
skull
ultrav
qcon1
These are the best 1on1 maps - dm2 is more teamplay orientated but I like it for 1on1 as well cause there is tons of different strategies you can use on this map - you can go +forward and try and dominate or you can go stealthy and surprise attack and there are others - i've had my funnest 1on1's on dm2 but my fav is dm6 just for strategical reasons.
I would start with these maps. |

I'm thinking maybe we could organize some sort of DMC Central 1 vs 1 leagues during the summer.
Have, like, days where we all just get together at a certain time and do our thing. Nothing too convoluted or extended, just little fun things every now and again. I'm really wanting to learn some skill at this game, being as I've started really late as far as Quake and other hypershooters go.
I dunno, could be awesome. |
