Post subject: 1 vs 1 Duel
This is a call. I?m desperated... Crying or Very sad I can?t play in Master server (the most popular of Baf's server) because my ping is very bad (180-200) and a good player with a good ping could kick my ass easily, and that?s not funny. God damn Steam. So, I only can play in Hook?s server, which is often empty, and is very strange the day a good player join that server. God damn DMC. I've tested other games, I?m playin now a Quake3 demo even i?ve bought Unreal Tournament 2003. I dont want to left DMC, is the best game for me, but my situation is very very sad, as you know, i?m the only spanish here along diedel, another big problem. I hope the ladder will run soon, but I know it?s complicated. I only want to say....There are a lot of good players here and I'm tired of compete for killing more people than other players. If anyone here wants to play with me in a 1 vs 1 Duel, just meet me here in the forum and we?ll have fun.

Hi Pen, Im always up for a duel when i'm online Smile

We have a Duel Pro server up and running. Its running version 6 of DMC Pro because we had problems with V7.

There are two slight problems with the server......

1. It reports as being game type MidAir in the steam server list
2. It is stuck in mp_weaponstay 0... i've tried altering the mode config file with no success. (Trend do you think you could have a look at the Version 6 code and alter mp_weaponstay to 1 as default PLEASE Smile )

To use the server....
To change map go into the console and type admin_vote_map <map name>
eg. admin_vote_map dmc_dm2
To start the match both players have to type ready in the console


If everyone is happy with using the server with weapon stay being off Question we could try starting the league.


btw: I know just how you feel about pings.... its the same for me when I play on any US server.

Yeah man, it?s very hard, I didn't have the ping's problem with Won. All the people plays in Master server and I cant because of my ping (180-220), so all i have is Hook Mod, Pro Duel and Pro Arena (130-150 of ping all of them, an acceptive ping for me).

Thx a lot for the info about Pro Duel server, Simon, hope that everyone of us will play there soon, think a lot of people will like it and we can have fun. So, if everyone wants to join me, Im here. Smile

Everytime I try to join the hldmc channel in quakenet nobody replies me ????????? i ve tried it more than one time, don?t know what happens, nobody use it in that moment?, don?t know. No ....all the guys that were listed at the side are online...but maybe they r currently not at the pc... so dont quit so quickly, stay in the channel and query me or some other guy u wanna play with! So you have to check the irc window time to time..or u can highlight ur name and combine it with a sound, that will be played if someone writes ur name in the channel... test it out...

Maybe I should do a Tournament MOD that only has 2 gamemodes.

DUEL and TEAMPLAY

DMC Pro has so many gamemodes and other bells and whistles that are not really needed for admins that run multiple servers.

If a server admin runs 4 or 5 dedicated servers and pretty much doesn't change gamemodes then there is no reason to run a .dll with 10 different modes.

What do you think Simon ? Shall I do a MOD with just DUEL and TEAMPLAY modes ? For the tournament servers that you run (or anyone else that wants to run it)

I can concentrate on only 2 modes which should make it much better on all of us.

One more thing....If I do this then I should make it from my DME source code which would require clients do install it to play. But they would have VGUI menus, commandmenu support like TFC and CS. Customized crosshairs, etc...The kind of stuff that is needed for Teamplay.

I know the duel mode in DMC Pro is shitty but it's impossible to test it with bots because of the input required by clients (ready, break, etc) It's very hard to find people to help playtest the way I test (start server, join, play, doesn't work, stop server, come back in 15 mins after code adjustment, play, still not right, stop server, etc. etc.) its a pain in the ass to do it like that but its the only way...

I can test with you like that trend, I have serveral servers set up for testing already that can be turned on and off as needed.

My suggestion would be to make each game mode a metamod plugin, It shouldn't be all that hard I have source code that should make it pretty easy to do Smile

Trend I thought you where burnt out so i didnt want to bother you but if you could make a cut version that would great. Anyway I think everyone is happy with all the fancy game modes in DMC Pro as it stands now.

Would be easy for you if you made the new tourney mode as one game mode? mp_teamplay with rounds and a ready up script. At the end of the round all players are dumped back into spectator mode.
Then all you need to add is a server side CVAR for players per team.
eg. mp_teamplayers 1 , 2 , 3 or 4

A ready up script has already made for metamod but its coded for CS and they havent released the source. It can be downloaded from here if you want to check it out http://www.sysnet.hu/vudumen/metamod_plugins/
They might even let us have the source if we ask them nicely.

Yes, you are right i'm extremely burnt out on it. But I would like to have a good standalone teamplay/duel mod also.

I already have the player queue (ready up) code already done. My DME code is different than DMC PRO (and better) I'll probably use that so clients will need to DL and install to play. But it will probably only be regular diehard DMC players that play it so I don't think that will be a problem.

Dive, I will MSN you when i'm ready to test. Will have to do on my server cause i'll have to make a new build everytime we test something new. Me and Wang did some testing and it's very frustrating. I compile a .dll, put it on the server, we join and if somethings not right then I have to kill the server, fix the problem, compile, start server again, etc. etc...I hope you have a lot of patience Wink

I'll send you the new client .dll and we can go from there.

Pen sorry about the ping to the duel server... as I've probably already said the net connection that houses the DMC Pro servers belongs to a heavy downloader Embarassed
I don't know why you pings are so high to the master because in theory that server should be best pinger for you and should far less hops away than the hookmod server.

Oh, the metamod plugins are written in C++ not small script, so you wouldn't have to learn anything new Wink It's really pretty simple to make your code into a plugin.
It's the adminmod plugins that are written in that weird small script.

About my ping on Master server, dirk told me the same, that server should be the best pinger for me, don?t know what happens. Anyway, I don?t mind, hope to have some nice duels with you guys. Very Happy

btw. dive: did u know the qW map called Skull ?? its made by "Zaka" and includes lovely gameplay...one of the best maps i ever played... so my opinion Smile .. is there a way that u take a look at this amazing map to probably convert it to dmc????? pleeeease coz that map kicks ass in a 1n1 duel

I might try to add the speedometer. I have some source code for a speedo, its pretty slick. If I do code a speedo it wont be easy and will add another 1-2 weeks on the project.

In the mean time you can run sparky's client hook. Its got a speedo and other nifty things. But you will have to DL the source code and compile it to work with DMC. I got it workin with DMC but I think I deleted the .exe so your on your own if ya want to try it.

I have my forum back up, if anyone has any features or requests for the match mod let me know Smile

Hello. Simon, don't want to disturb but ...would it be possible to suppress the author's legend in the ztndm3 map? It's annoying, it appears every five seconds in the middle of the screen. It happens in dmc_ultrav too. Thx.

Pen, no they're not giger... but very giger-esque.
a lot of those textures are q3a rerenders.

giger textures would be nice... especially the biomechanics series and passages. i planned on making a .wadfile from some of them at one time, but there are legal repercussions involved, and i wouldn't want to tangle with morpheus international after how good they've been to me.
